Hello dear reader’s of techefiy! welcome to our letest article, In todays informetive blog we’ll exlpaining you some new Exciting New Ways to Customize Your iPhone Control Center by iOS 18. iOS 18 gives the Control Center a fresh update. It remains easily accessible by swiping down from the Home Screen, but now offers expanded customization options. Users can adjust the arrangement and size of various controls to better fit their preferences. The Control Center now includes a new search menu to help you find available controls, and you can even replace Lock Screen controls (goodbye Flashlight).
So let’s discover all the exciting and impactful changes to the iPhone’s Control Center in this update.
New customization with Familiar Grid
New Options and Controls are available to Enhance Your Control Center
Apple is extending many of the Home Screen changes to the Control Center, introducing new customization features. The Control Center now sports a grid-style layout, enhancing its role as a central hub for quick controls and app options. By default, you’ll still find the ‘Connectivity’ widget with Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and more. Additionally, options like Lock Screen settings, Focus mode selections, and ‘Now Playing’ remain available with the iOS 18 public beta.
In the top left corner of the Control Center, you’ll now find a new ‘+’ symbol. Tapping this icon brings up the grid-style layout (details on that below). At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see an ‘Add a Control’ option. This menu offers an extensive list of controls you can add, including options like Quick Note and smart light scenes. Additionally, there’s a comprehensive range of accessibility features available, supporting tools for hearing, motor, and visual assistance.
Among the new options available are smart home scene and accessory controls. Previously, the Control Center only had a ‘Home’ option that directed you to a separate menu for managing smart lights and scene presets. Now, your most frequently used smart lights and presets are directly accessible in the Control Center. Another handy addition is the ability to ping your Apple Watch, which is a great feature for those who often misplace their watch in another room.
The Control Center now features two dedicated pages for music and connectivity. When you swipe down, you first access the ‘Now Playing’ page, which allows you to control playback for any audio source, whether it’s Apple Music or Spotify. This page displays the album cover and details, with AirPlay options also available. Swiping down again takes you to the Connectivity page, where you’ll find controls for Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, as well as VPN, Hotspots, and Satellite options. While these pages can be replaced with other large-scale widgets, I haven’t found any alternatives that are as compelling.

Customizable Lock Screen controls
Guy’s, finally we can swap out the flashlight. The new Lock Screen controls are closely integrated with the Control Center. Many of the updated control options and the new menu layout now extend to the Lock Screen as well. While the iPhone traditionally featured fixed flashlight and camera controls, iOS 18 now allows you to replace these with any supported controls you prefer.
While customization options are still somewhat limited, this update marks a positive step forward. To adjust your Lock Screen controls, simply long-press the screen, select ‘Customize’ at the bottom, and choose ‘Lock Screen.’ From there, you can remove the flashlight, camera, or both. You can then tap the available spaces to add new controls. As a left-handed user, I’ve always found the camera control on the right side inconvenient, so I’ve moved it to the left side for easier access. Unsurprisingly, I’ve used the remaining slot for the Home control, allowing me quick access to my smart home lighting.
